Kathmandu. Students at the Nobel Academy are in distress. Students and parents of grade 11 at Nobel Academy, a prestigious educational institution in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu, are in a big dilemma due to the ‘syndicate’ and mismanagement of the college.

The college has not only not fulfilled the promises made at the time of admission, but has also been found to be playing with the future of the students by charging unnecessary fines and exorbitant fees on various pretexts.

With the start of the new academic session, this opaque style shown by the college administration has put the parents under financial and mental stress at this time.

Lab loot and pressure from ‘book syndicate’

Although the college has collected a hefty amount from the students in the name of Computer Lab and Extracurricular Activities (ECA), there is a widespread complaint that the facilities are almost zero. Due to the lack of skilled technicians in the laboratory, the students have not been able to learn practical knowledge, and the college has imposed a ‘book syndicate’ by forcing them to buy books from the designated shops.

In addition, the problem of frequent reshuffling of subject teachers has increased the risk of curriculum not being completed on time and deteriorating the quality of education. The atmosphere of the Nobel has been frightened by the heavy financial fines and mental punishment imposed on the students in the name of discipline. They are forced to pay hefty fees for being late in class or absent for exams for any reason, while they are forbidden to bring lunch from home and are forced to eat unhealthy food in the canteen.

The inconvenience caused by keeping students from Nursery to Grade 12 in a single block and lack of playground have hampered the overall development of the students. It is necessary for the authorities concerned to immediately investigate this gross negligence of the Nobel Academy, which is being accused of focusing only on commercial gains and protect the educational rights of the students. Otherwise, such behavior of reputed educational institutions is sure to increase mistrust in the private education sector as a whole.
