Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra Shah held discussions with representatives of the private sector on the issues related to industry, business, investment, environment and economic reforms. During the meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers today, Prime Minister Shah held extensive discussions on making the country’s economic activities dynamic and strong, making the operation of industry and business easier, creating investment-friendly environment, removing policy-level and procedural hurdles, boosting the morale of the private sector, creating employment and increasing production.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Shah said the private sector was an important partner of the government in the country’s economic development, investment expansion, job creation and production growth. He also pledged to prioritise policy, legal and administrative reforms required to create environment conducive to industry and private sector.
During the discussions, the representatives of the private sector put forth suggestions on the need of regular and result-oriented dialogue between the government and the private sector, including promotion of industry, investment expansion, policy stability, ease of service delivery, and the need of regular and result-oriented dialogue between the government and private sector. On the occasion, Prime Minister Shah said the suggestions received would be taken seriously and necessary facilitation and reforms would be forwarded through the bodies concerned. He made it clear that the government would move ahead collaborating with the private sector in the campaign of economic reforms.
The meeting was attended by President of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Anjan Shrestha, President of the Committee of Industries Ujjwal Kumar Shrestha, immediate past President of Confederation of Nepalese Industries Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, Director General of Nepal Industries Dr. Ghanashyam Ojha, President of Nepal Chamber of Commerce Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal and Senior Vice President Deepak Malhotra.
The high-level meeting held with the chiefs and office-bearers of the representative organisations of industrialists and businessmen of the private sector is expected to help promote the country’s industry and business, improve the environment for investment, and formulate private sector-friendly policies as well as collaboration between the government and private sector.
