Foreign investment commitment of more than Rs 58 billion approved

. In the fiscal year 2082÷83, the Department of Industry has approved foreign direct investment (FDI) commitment of Rs 58.01 billion. According to the Department, commitment has been received for 1,116 projects including through the automatic route and the approved route during the period.

According to the department, foreign investment worth Rs 9

.58 billion has been committed for 897 projects through the automatic route. Likewise, commitments worth Rs 48.41 billion have been approved for 219 projects under the approval route.

Regionally, 727 projects have been registered in the information technology (IT) sector.

However, the commitment for investment in the sector is Rs 2.83 billion.

Foreign investment commitments worth Rs 23

.18 billion have been made for 18 projects in the agriculture sector, which is the largest in terms of amount. According to the department, commitment of foreign investment amounting to Rs 13.99 billion has been made for 227 projects in the tourism sector, Rs 7.16 billion for four projects in the energy sector and Rs 3.91 billion for 63 projects in the manufacturing sector.

According to the Department, the commitment towards foreign investment has indicated that foreign investors are still attracted to Nepal especially in agriculture, tourism, energy, production and information technology sectors.
