The historic Gangamai Jatra is being celebrated as per the traditional rituals at the Pashupati area of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-8.
This ancient and important Jatra celebrated in the Pashupati area is formally started by the Gurju’s platoon with a cannon fire.
This festival is celebrated every year in the memory of the departed ancestors, wishing for peace and salvation of their souls. Locals, devotees and the general public participated in this festival, which is deeply connected with the original culture and tradition of the Newar community.
