. 51-year-old Pratap Damai has returned home after receiving free medical treatment in a remote village of Humla.
At the request of Kishori Karki, the rescuer of the Jenji movement, the proprietor of Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) and Nepali Congress leader Dr. Sunil Sharma has arranged for the treatment of Pratape free of cost. Pratape, a resident of Adanchuli Rural Municipality-3 in Humla, had been suffering from nerve problems for a long time.
The condition was so serious that he could not even stand upright. Walking and daily activities were painful for him.
The lack of easy access to treatment in remote Humla and the inability to manage the cost of reaching Kathmandu was another major problem for him. When she came to know about Pratap’s condition, Karki took the initiative for his treatment and made arrangements to bring him to Kathmandu.
Then began Pratap’s arduous journey from Humla to Kathmandu. After more than a week-long arduous journey, Pratap returned to Kathmandu with the hope of treatment. Immediately after arriving in the capital, an ambulance from KMC Duwakot took him to the hospital.
Informing about Pratap’s condition and financial difficulties, Karki sought help from KMC Director Sharma for his treatment.
After Karki’s request, Dr. Sharma made arrangements to bear all the expenses of Pratap’s treatment free of cost.
After this, a team of doctors and health workers led by Dr. Aman Shah of KMC Duwakot was involved in the treatment of Pratap.
With the efforts of the hospital’s modern technology and doctors, Pratap’s pain has been relieved for a long time.
He underwent endoscopic spine surgery and was able to walk on his own shortly after surgery. He has also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to leader Sharma for making arrangements for free health treatment, Karki for taking initiative and the entire medical team involved in his treatment.
Pratape, who was admitted to the hospital in an ambulance when he could not even stand on his feet due to pain, returned home after free treatment.
