Free mammogram check-up for women above 40 years of age
Bhaktapur. Kathmandu Cancer Center is to provide free mammogram service for women above 40 years of age.
Located in Tathali, Bhaktapur, the center has decided to provide free mammogram service to women above 40 years of age as a policy to raise awareness about breast cancer and encourage women to get health check-up on time. The free service will be available for a limited number of women and a 50 percent discount will be provided in October and November, said Barsha Koirala, hospital administrator.
The month of October 2026 is considered as a special month to raise awareness about cancer. On this occasion, the center aims to raise awareness about breast cancer and encourage women to get health check-ups on time.
Kathmandu Cancer Center is a 50-bed hospital. It has been providing all the treatment services related to cancer by specialist doctors for the last 10 years.
According to Koirala, the objective of this campaign is to make women aware of their health and encourage them to undergo necessary health check-ups. Many women are still unaware of breast cancer and some delay screening due to fear or shame.
The Kathmandu Cancer Center has tried to spread the message of Pink October to the community. “Let’s be aware of breast cancer, get tested on time and take care of our health,” the center said.
The center has put up a public awareness ribbon frame in Kathmandu Mall, Civil Mall, BG Mall and Cafeliya outlets in Kathmandu.
Five people who go to these places and take photos will get the facility of free testing. The proof of the photo will have to be shown by the concerned person.
Kathmandu Cancer Center has been collaborating to spread awareness on cancer prevention not only in October but throughout the year.
