On the second day of Tihar, Kukur Tihar is celebrated by worshiping dogs. On this occasion, dogs are worshipped with garlands, tika on their foreheads, and sweet delicacies.
According to Hindu scriptures, dogs are considered as messengers and protectors of Yamaraj. On the occasion of Kukur Tihar, along with pet dogs, street dogs are also worshipped.
