Kathmandu. The Commission for Investigation of Assets (CIAA) has urged the public officials and retired persons to submit their property details in their name and those of their family members. Issuing a public notice on Thursday, the Commission has urged the people concerned to collect and submit details of all the properties within the country and abroad.
According to the EC, in the first phase, the government has initiated the process of investigation into the properties of political officials, employees and their families who have been in public office from fiscal year 2062/63 to fiscal year 2082/83 or who have retired during that period.
As per the notice, the prime minister, deputy prime minister, ministers, chief ministers of province governments, members of the federal parliament and provincial assemblies, office-bearers of constitutional bodies, judges, chiefs and deputy chiefs of local levels, chairpersons and vice-chairpersons, high-ranking officials of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal Army, Nepal Rastra Bank and corporations have been asked to submit their property details.
The Commission has stated that the details related to movable and immovable property, bank deposits, share investment, loan, business, agriculture, livestock and other sources of income should be submitted in the prescribed format. The commission has also made provision to disclose the source of the property while submitting the details. Similarly, the commission has stated that the people who were in public service from fiscal year 2048/49 to 2062/63 or retired after that should also submit their property details once.
According to the commission, the property details can be obtained from the office and can also be downloaded from the commission’s website. The NHRC has warned that action will be taken against those deliberately submitting false details or failing to submit property details.
