Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Minister for Information and Communications, Dr Bikram Timilsina, has made it clear that the government had no intention of controlling the press. Responding to queries related to his ministry from lawmakers in different meetings of the House of Representatives, Minister Timilsina said the government was committed to full press freedom.
‘The Constitution has given the right to freedom of the press. Today, tomorrow or the day after, no one can violate this right, but press freedom is not free. The press should be able to maintain its dignity and dignity,” Minister Timilsina said, adding, “The government cannot do anything it wants while the press maintains its dignity and dignity.” Therefore, I urge the journalism fraternity to work without any doubt, keeping in mind dignity and boundaries. ‘
He said the government was committed to make the Press Council Nepal and the Film Censor Board capable.
On the occasion, Minister Timilsina assured that he would deliberate on the suggestions and questions related to his ministry on the priorities of the government’s policy and programme and the budget.
