Kathmandu. The fourth edition of Nepal Super League (NSL) is set to kick off from September 20. The date of the tournament was announced at a press conference on Sunday.
Also speaking on the occasion, Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel said the government has adopted a policy to promote sports by keeping it away from political influence. He said that there is a need to invest in sports from a young age, targeting the 27,000 schools and millions of students in Nepal.
“If we start investing in students from a young age, we can develop them into excellent players,” he said. Minister Pokharel said that sports would be prioritized in the upcoming curriculum as well.
“Politically speaking, both the party and the government want to make the sports sector free of party politics as far as possible,” he said. There are 27,000 schools in Nepal. It would be great if we started investing in students from a young age and move forward with the vision that you can be brought in as a player as well. If you can invest from a young age, you can produce good players. Therefore, we will give importance to sports in the curriculum as well. ’
According to the organizers, the tournament will be played in home and away format while the match will be played in double round robin. According to the organizers, 10-12 teams will participate this time.
