Kathmandu. Minister for Home Affairs Sudan Gurung and Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation Mahabir Pun took oath of office and secrecy. President Ram Chandra Poudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected ministers amidst a function at the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas, on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Balendra Shah had recommended President Ram Chandra Poudel to reappoint former home minister Sudan Gurung to the post of Home Minister.
Earlier, Gurung had resigned from the post of Home Minister after questions were raised regarding his property details. Soon after, the government formed a committee to investigate the matter.
The probe committee had submitted its report to the Prime Minister on Friday. A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Tuesday approved the report and decided to reappoint Gurung to the post of Home Minister.
Following the government’s decision, Gurung has again taken charge of the Home Ministry.
Likewise, Mahabir Pun also accepted the proposal for the post of Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation.
