Seed First Amendment Regulations-2083 approved
Kathmandu at the initiative of Minister Chaudhary. The government has endorsed the Seed First Amendment Regulation-2083 at the initiative of Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Geeta Chaudhary. The amendment regulations have been brought with the objective of making the seed management system in the agriculture sector more systematic, effective and transparent by reforming the legal provisions related to seeds as per the time.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers held today decided to approve the regulations as per the proposal forwarded by Minister Chaudhary.
The amended regulation has the goal of ensuring farmers’ easy access to quality seeds and making seed production, certification, sales distribution and regulation processes modern and effective.
According to the Ministry, the amendment has been made as per the need of time as it is necessary to reform the law to maintain the quality of seeds which is the basis of agricultural production.
The new system is expected to further strengthen the seed quality control and regulation system.
Minister Chaudhary expressed his confidence that the availability of quality seeds, farmers would get reliable seeds easily and positive impact on agricultural production and productivity increase once the amended regulation comes into effect.
After the decision of the Council of Ministers, the amended regulations will come into effect after it is published in the Gazette.
