. Kathmandu District Court has sentenced those convicted in the fake Bhutanese refugee case.
A single bench of Justice Tej Bahadur Khadka on Tuesday handed down the quantum of punishment to 15 persons, including former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi and former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand. Top Bahadur has been sentenced to five years in prison and a fine of Rs 50,000, Tek Narayan Pandey to six years in jail and Rs 60,000 in fine, Bal Krishna Khand to two years in jail and Rs 20,000 in fine and Teknath Rijal to one year in jail and Rs 10,000 in fine.
Similarly, Keshav Dulal has been sentenced to 7 years in prison and a fine of Rs 70,000, Sanu Bhandari has been sentenced to seven years in prison and a fine of Rs 70,000, Indrajit Rai has been sentenced to 6 years in prison and a fine of Rs 60,000, Angawa Sherpa has been sentenced to five years in prison and fined Rs 50,000, Sandesh Sharma has been sentenced to five years in jail and fined Rs 50,000, Govinda Chaudhary has been sentenced to five years and fined Rs 50,000.
Sagar Rai has been sentenced to five years in prison and fined Rs 50,000.
Likewise, Shamsher Miya has been sentenced to one year of imprisonment and Rs 10,
000 fine, Narendra KC to one-year jail term and Rs 10,000 fine, Hari Bhakta Maharjan to one-year jail term and Rs 10,000 fine, Niranjan Kumar Kharel to one-year jail term and Rs 10,000 fine and Bechan Jha to one-year jail term and Rs 10,000 fine.
