Sarlahi. Minister for Home, Communications and Law of Madhesh Province, Fakira Mahato, met with the family of late Bibek Mandal of Godaita Municipality-10, Sisautiya in Sarlahi district. Minister Mahato reached Mandal’s residence on Tuesday evening and met with the bereaved family.
He expressed deep sorrow over the untimely demise of Vivek and urged the family members to be patient.
He also expressed his commitment that the state government would stand with the family in this hour of grief and take initiative to provide necessary support.
Talking to Nepal News Bank, Minister Mahato said that Bibek’s wife will be provided employment through the state government.
The government was sensitive towards the problems of the people of his constituency and added that necessary support would be provided to the families of their families.
Vivek Mandal had attempted self-immolation by pouring petrol on his body on Friday and setting himself on fire.
He sustained burns on 85 percent of his body and was undergoing treatment at the Burn Hospital in Kirtipur, Kathmandu. He died while undergoing treatment at around 2 am on Monday.
With the death of Vivek, the family is in a serious financial crisis. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter. According to the family, they are yet to repay a loan of Rs 35 lakh taken from the village and banks. His brother is in Qatar for foreign employment.
Meanwhile, Godaita Municipality has announced financial assistance of one lakh rupees to the Mandal family.
Mayor Devendra Yadav said Rs 25,000 was immediately handed over to the families and the remaining Rs 75,000 would be provided once the municipality’s account is opened.
He said that the decision to provide relief to the families who are in financial crisis has been decided.
Following the demise of Mandal, the family has sought support from the state in terms of long-term financial support, employment and loan management.
