Agreement to forward the process of operation of Kailali and Kanchanpur airports, emphasis on Shuklaphanta tourism development
Kathmandu. High-level discussions were held regarding the operation of Mazgaon Airport of Kanchanpur and Tikapur Airport of Kailali. The meeting also agreed to expedite legal, technical and administrative processes to bring both the airports into operation at the earliest.
Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal, Minister for Agriculture and Forest and Environment Gita Chaudhary, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadka Raj Poudel, among others were present in the meeting.
Gyanendra Singh Mahata, member of the House of Representatives from Kailali Constituency No. 3; Member of House of Representatives from Province 1 Komal Gyawali, secretaries of concerned ministries, departmental directors and thematic experts were present on the occasion.
During the discussions, the participants agreed to expedite the necessary infrastructure, legal process and administrative preparations for the operation of the airport. Member of the House of Representatives, Janak Singh Dhami, raised various issues related to Shuklaphanta National Park in the meeting.
He urged the government to set up a security post in the jungle between Barnikheda and Beldandi area under the national park, to develop necessary tourism infrastructure for visiting the park from the Beldandi area and to take necessary initiatives to develop the area as an attractive tourist destination by conserving the lake.
The parties participating in the meeting have expressed their commitment to take the necessary process through the concerned bodies accepting the proposal raised by lawmaker Dhami positively.
