It is customary to bring citrus fruits, sour fruits, dogs, dino, well-to-do and other plants in the house in the morning and throw them away in the evening. It is believed that by throwing the garb in this way, one can get rid of diseases throughout the year.

In this context, Nepal News Bank has written to Dr.

In a conversation with Narayan Prasad Niraula, he said that there is a Hindu religious belief that Uttarayan starts from Maghe Sankranti and Dakshinayan starts from Sawan Sankranti.

According to him, it is also called ‘Ayan Sankranti’ as Dakshinayan begins with Shrawan Sankranti.

Assistant Professor Dr. Niraula said, “Especially, the Dakshinayan starts from the month of Saun and the solstice changes.

Uttarayan begins with Maghe Sankranti and Dakshinayan begins with Saun Sankranti. According to him, there is a religious belief that with the beginning of Dakshinayan, the night of the gods and the day of the demons begins. This is the reason why there is a tradition of worshipping the god Kandarak on this day wishing to be protected from demonic fear and evil forces.

He said, “Especially during the time of Dakshinayan, Kandarak is worshiped to avoid the fear of demons, demons, as the night of the demon is the beginning of the night for the deity.” Due to which we believe that we will get healthy, healthy. According to him , on this day, the Sun enters Cancer from Gemini to Cancer, so the Saun Sankranti has astrological significance. Although each Sankranti is taken as an opportunity to attain virtue, the two solstice of Uttarayan and Dakshinayan have special significance.

He said, “Ayan Sankranti is the beginning of Dakshinayan. The Sun crosses Gemini and enters Cancer from July. Therefore, every Sankranti has its own special glory. Especially Sankranti is considered to be the best for charity. Since Sankranti is the best time to perform rituals like bathing, charity, etc., two Ayan Sankrantis are considered special. “

cultural traditions including throwing a loot on the occasion of Sankranti also give the message of health, health and good luck to the society,” he said. He said that such rituals would strengthen the feelings of public health and social unity along with religious beliefs.

According to him, according to Hindu Vedic beliefs, one Brahma day is considered to be 4.32 billion years i. e. one Kalpa.

Stating that the religious census has been delayed about 1 billion 95 crore 58 lakh 85 thousand 127 years in the present Kalpa, he said the system of census related to Sankranti was developed since this period.

He said that there is a tradition of celebrating this festival in different communities according to their own traditions, culture and rituals.

He said the Sankranti has played an important role in the preservation and continuity of local culture along with religious faith.

“We have our own ways of celebrating, we have our own cultures, we can celebrate our festivals in our own way,” he said.

And we can also see its landscape directly from a religious or astronomical point of view. Especially in this month, the rainy season also begins. Along with this, our cultures are also intertwined. “

He said that there is a scriptural provision to perform religious rituals like taking holy bath, performing charity, worshiping God and worshiping Lord Satyanarayan on the morning of Sankranti.

He said, “There is a scriptural provision that one can take bath, donate, worship God and perform Satyanarayan worship in the morning of Sankranti.

Along with this, you can do other deeds according to your culture or tradition. According to him, throwing the loot also means worshipping Kandaraka. Kandaraka is believed to be the god of demons.

He said, “When you throw the loot, you worship the candor. Kandaraka is the god of demons. It is believed that by worshiping him, he is relieved of that fear, as diseases including external skin diseases are fearful. Because it is also a disease. Dr. Niraula said that the festival of ‘Loto Throwing’ is a cultural tradition celebrated in Nepali society wishing for freedom from diseases and good health. He said that the word ‘Luto’ refers to disease, so to say ‘to throw away’ means to give up the disease and wish for a healthy life.

He said that there is a tradition of symbolically throwing away the disease during this festival. According to him, religious rituals such as bathing and donation are performed in the morning while in the evening it is customary to collect special items and worship the Kandarak methodically.

Stating that bathing, donation and Kandarak worship have special significance on the occasion of Saun Sankranti, he said the tradition of offering new fruits and crops to the gods and goddesses on this day has enlivened the cultural identity of the Nepali society.

Dr. According to Niraula, from a scientific point of view, Sawan Sankranti is a time associated with the change of seasons of nature. According to him, excessive rainfall during the rainy months of July and August is part of the natural cycle.

He said that modern science has also accepted the characteristics of the rainy season and the natural changes associated with it, despite the general fluctuations in the weather.

Stating that Saun Sankranti has special significance from the astronomical point of view, he said that the Sun enters Cancer during this period, which has an astronomical basis.

He said that since every place has its own cultural traditions and practices, the same method and ritual would not be applicable everywhere.

According to him, it is natural to have some differences according to the local culture and tradition.

He said that it would be appropriate to celebrate the Saun Sankranti by following the rituals and regulations as directed by the scriptural beliefs and traditions.
