Kathmandu. Prime Minister Balendra Shah has extended his best wishes on the occasion of Kaag Tihar and Dhanvantari Jayanti.

In a message of best wishes through social media on the occasion of the first day of Yamapanchak and Kaag Tihar on Saturday, the Prime Minister talked about the affinity of Nepali culture, tradition and animal husbandry. Stating that the crow is considered to be the messenger of Yamraj, Prime Minister Shah said that there is a tradition of honoring the crow by feeding him sweet food. He also recalled the belief that in the absence of modern communication, the crow was taken as a sign of news or a guest coming from somewhere.

Referring to the tradition of Yama Deepdan in the name of family members, he said that Yamraj should be understood not only as a symbol of fear but also as a symbol of justice. He said that there is a religious belief that Yamraj punishes those who commit misdeeds and protects those who do good deeds.

On the occasion of Dhanvantari Jayanti, Prime Minister Shah has wished for a healthy life to all, remembering Lord Dhanvantari, the promoter of Ayurveda and the God of health.

Similarly, referring to the Kukur Tihar celebrated tomorrow, he described the dog as a trusted and loyal companion of human civilization. From housekeeping to research and rescue works, dogs have been helping human beings, he said, expressing his gratitude and love for dogs.

“May these festivals inspire us to work for good governance and pro-people work by adhering to the path of truth, justice and honesty,” the Prime Minister wrote in his message.

He has mentioned ‘Jai Desh, Jai Sanskriti’ at the end of his message.
