‘Kanyam Vrikshalaya’ has been brought into operation in the building of Tea Testing Center

Uttam Pradhan, the tea testing, promotion and research center built with the cost partnership of Koshi Province Government and Suryodaya Municipality, has brought the tree into operation along with the tea testing center.
At a press conference organized to inform about the plantation, the organizers said that the aim is to develop Kanyam not just as a tourist destination but also as a destination to experience tea, local products, unique cuisine and Nepali hospitality.
The structure constructed as a tea testing, promotion and research center has been leased for 10 years through the electronic bidding process of the Public Procurement Monitoring Office.
Apart from the five buildings provided in the agreement, the Board of Directors has invested an additional Rs 20 million to construct and improve the necessary infrastructures.
The board of directors has made it clear that the main purpose of the tree is not limited to the operation of hotels. It is said that there is a plan to develop Kanyam as a model hospitality center of Koshi Province and connect tea gardens, tea production, hard work of local farmers and taste of tea with the experience of tourists.
Since tea is the main identity of Ilam, the goal is to develop tea not only as a beverage but also as a base for ‘tea tourism’. Pradhan said that there is a plan to provide tourists with experience from tea production to tea drinking.
The tree established in eastern Nepal aims to attract tourists from Bihar, West Bengal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Myanmar of India. It will provide information about local homestays, hotels and other tourist destinations and contribute to sustainable tourism development.
Another proprietor Santosh Kunwar said that there is also a plan to create an environment to keep tourists in Ilam for at least four nights and five days to prolong their stay in Ilam.
The tree has been established with the collective investment and management of four youths under the age of 40 with long experience in the world tourism market. At present, about 25 youths are getting direct employment here. According to the board of directors, priority has been given to local youths in the employment.
According to the tree, it has branches in Kathmandu, Chitwan, Lamjung, Banke and Ilam of Nepal. It plans to expand branches in all 77 districts of the country in the coming days.
A tea testing, promotion and research center and a tea museum are also in operation on the premises of the tree. It is owned and managed by the Koshi Province government and Suryodaya Municipality.
The local government, community, businessmen, tourism sector and media need continuous support and cooperation in the campaign to promote the nature of Kanyam, the tea of Ilam, agricultural products and Nepali hospitality in the international tourism market. According to the operator, cleanliness, hospitality and taste are considered as the main basis of the plantation. It has been promised to make Kanyam not only a place to visit but also a destination for tourists to return with a special experience.
Although the state and municipality have invested in the buildings constructed here, the other investment has been done by four businessmen. They have said that they have taken a contract for 10 years for 10 years.
The state government had constructed a building at a cost of Rs 18
0 million to set up a tea research and promotion centre in Kanyam with the objective of checking the taste, quality and preservation of the crop.
