Kathmandu. The government has imposed a fine of Rs 3 lakh on the government-owned Salt Trading Corporation. The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has imposed a fine of Rs 3 lakh on the government for failing to show clear details of the purchase and sale of sugar and stock and for not cooperating during the monitoring.
According to the department, it was not possible to verify the actual stock as the corporation failed to provide stock ledger related to daily purchase, sale and stock, which is why the action was taken as per the Consumer Protection Act, 2075.
The department has directed to pay the fine amount within 7 days and warned that if it does not pay it, further action will be taken. In addition, if the corporation wants, it can apply for a review by depositing 50 percent of the amount.
