Prachanda releases book ‘Karnali Neglect and Light’

He said this while releasing a book titled ‘Karnali Neglect and Light’ authored by Dr Dipendra Rokaya and Mohandas Manandhar at Sambad Dabali on Saturday. Prachanda said that the present government is like a Hindi spy film. “You must have seen a Hindi spy movie, it is like doing the work of the government. It is not certain when which journalist will be caught, who will be attacked, where. We have run away from this strange kind of government, there is a lot to see and say,” Prachanda said.

Prachanda said that he was ousted from the government while campaigning against corruption. “Corrupt and middlemen have become strong in this country,” he said. Prachanda also recalled that the regressive people were going to the government under his leadership to maintain social justice and follow the path of prosperity.

Commenting on the irrational commentary that nothing has happened in the last 35 years, Prachanda said that this book will answer it. Stating that the two writers have started the debate in a new way, Prachanda said, “Through this book, they have started the debate in a new way, they have drawn a roadmap to understand the development and future of Karnali.” He also said that the people’s war has reversed the thinking of the rulers ignoring the language, culture and history of Karnali during the development of history. He said that the present state does not understand this. Recalling that the government under his leadership had emphasized on the construction of the Mid-Hill Highway, Madan Bhandari Highway and the North-South Corridor in all the provinces, Prachanda said, “This development would not have taken place if we did not think so.”

In another context, Prachanda said that under his leadership, Nepal has been developed into a country of power buyers and sellers of electricity. He also said that he himself has signed 10,000 MW power generation and inter-country trade agreement.

Dipendra Rokaya said that the series of neglect has increased in Karnali after the Nepal expansion campaign.

He said that in the book, the references to the development after federalism have been presented and the issues of debate have been raised for the further development of Karnali by institutionalizing the achievements of federalism. According to Dr. Rokaya, for this, the Mountainous Area Development Authority should be formed and the people of Karnali should be able to reach the federal capital through land route by constructing a mountain eco-tourism road.

Mohan Das Manandhar, another author of the book, said that he was inspired to write about why Karnali was neglected by taking his experience from the time of starting the hydropower in Karnali Chisapani area. Manandhar also said that he had the experience of collaborating with Dr. Rokaya during this time and is now working on the construction of Tila Hydropower Project. Raj Bahadur Kunwar, chairman of Aarambh Publications Kathmandu, informed that Karnali discourse has been started through this book.
