Kathmandu. Home Minister Sudan Gurung has conferred the insignia on newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Manoj KC.
The cabinet meeting held on Wednesday removed Dan Bahadur Karki from the post of IGP and handed over the leadership of Dr. KC to the leadership of Nepal Police.
This time, the old practice of conferring the insignia on the new IGP has also changed. Earlier, there was a tradition of the Home Secretary giving the insignia to the Inspector General of Nepal Police. But this time, Home Minister Gurung himself has given the insignia to the newly appointed IGP.
Outgoing IGP Dan Bahadur Karki was absent from the program. Meanwhile, the government has given the responsibility of Special Security Advisor to the Prime Minister to outgoing IGP Karki.
