He said that the insignia received is not only a promotion of a person but also a symbol of faith in the state, the Nepali people and the Nepal Police which has a history of more than seven decades.

He said, “We will immediately start a mechanism to listen to the grievances of the police personnel and police constables especially at the basic level. We will run this mechanism with priority in the Ministry of Home Affairs.” I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Nepal, the Honorable Prime Minister and the Ministry of Home Affairs for giving me the responsibility to lead the Nepal Police. This insignia is not only a promotion of a person but also a trust in the Nepal Police, which has a history of more than seven decades. KC said that the values, values and practices established by the former police leadership, including the outgoing Inspector General of Police in the organization, will be the basis of his work journey. He also paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the course of the security of the nation and the people and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured police personnel and the search for the missing police personnel.

Stating that the nature of crime and expectations of society were changing rapidly, he pointed out that cyber fraud, online financial crime, crypto transactions, deepfakes, misinformation, organized and transnational crime, narcotics, human trafficking and money laundering were the major challenges. He also said it was a challenge for the police to control the misuse of open border and crimes related to foreign employment. He said that the recent developments, including the Jenji agitation of August last year, have created a situation for a serious review of the relationship between the police and the citizens and the dignity of the use of force. He said that the need of the hour is to rebuild public trust in the police. He also stressed the need for effective coordination among the federal, provincial and local levels on the issues of peace and security. He also stressed the need to strengthen the capacity of the police to make the search, rescue and relief operations effective during disasters such as floods, landslides, earthquakes and fires caused by climate change. IGP KC presented the lack of resources and buildings within the police organization, long working hours, fairness in transfers and promotions and mental health of the employees as institutional challenges. He was of the view that these challenges should be taken as opportunities for organizational transformation.
